Description
Summary:Nano materials, which are aimed to provide novel properties to cement concrete and mortar have become more popular in the construction industry recently. In this work, an attempt has been made to investigate the mechanical properties of nano alumina in M-Sand cement mortar. In order to investigate the property of cement composite, the specimens of the same size were prepared with different percentage of nano alumina (0 %,0.25, 0.5 %, 0.75 %, 1 %, 1.25 and 1.5 %) respectively and the tests were conducted after 7, 14, 28 days of curing. Based on the experiments, our results indicate that the compressive strength of mortar has shown an increment when combined with Nano alumina. As the percentage of Nano alumina reached 1 % by weight of cement, the compressive strength of mortar increased. Furthermore, as the test results showed the addition of nano alumina up to 1 % by weight of cement improved the tensile strength, this leads to a conclusion that the optimum amount of alpha phase nno alumina in M-Sand cement mortar should be 1 %.
