Summary:In the present communication, a species of Lactarius ( L . sinozonarius ) belonging to L . sect. Zonarii has been described from Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, India. It was found under the Quercus sp. and is characterized by yellow fruiting bodies with zonate pileus and white latex. This taxon is presented here as a new record for the Indian mycota and described with detailed morphology, anatomy and nrITS based phylogeny.
