Description
Summary:To determine the genetic components of various agro-morphological and grain quality traits in rice, nine genotypes were crossed in diallel mating design. Vr–Wr graphical analysis and average degree of dominance revealed that presence of overdominance for all the studied traits, suggest that selection may be effective in a later generation. Estimates of genetic components such as D, H 1 and H 2 on traits under study were controlled by both additive and non-additive gene action. Narrow sense heritability was low for all the traits due to preponderance of non-additive gene action. These findings could help rice breeders to improve grain yield and contributing traits along with grain quality by appropriate selection.
