Summary: | A unique contacting device has been developed and tested. This device utilizes counter current gas-liquid contacting in a fluidized two phase zone created above the patented catenary grid screens. The operational parameters of the system are described by rapid bubbling techniques to predict and relate: two phase mixture height; effective static liquid height; gas-liquid mixture relative density; and average gas void fraction. These interrelated system parameters are functions of the Froude number and are also conveniently defined as functions of the superficial gas velocity. The device has been tested and relative to air pollution control it has been found to be an extremely effective particle separator-collector and gas absorber. |
