Summary: | A general equation is proposed for predicting the minimum fluidisation velocity of a mixture of particles of various sizes but all of the same shape and density. It requires knowledge of the change in voidage that occurs on changing the mixture composition. It predicts change in the minimum fluidisation velocity with small changes in the fines content of, for example, a commercial catalyst. The equation is in reasonable agreement with experimental data. |
