Summary: | The Compton profiles of hexane and decane in the liquid phase have been measured with MoKα X-rays. The observed profiles were compared with those calculated by the method of localized molecular orbitals, employing the values reported by Epstein for the contributions of carbon is electrons and the electrons in the CC and CH bonds. The discrepancy between experiment and theory, though small, indicates that the observed electron momentum distributions are more extended in momentum space than those of the theoretical model. |
