Spin-exchange between stilbene triplets and oxygen ( 3Σ)
Comparison of the interactions of oxygen and β-carotene with stilbene triplets suggests that electronic excitation is not transferred to oxygen. Effective interactions may proceed via a triplet encounter complex which gives oxygen ( 3Σ) and twisted stilbene ground state molecules.
