Description
Summary:Splittings between A and E sublevels in methyl vinyl ketone (arising from the internal rotation of the methyl group) in the ground and first excited states following methyl and skeletal torsions, and variations of the rotational constants with respect to the ground state, have been measured. A flexible model analysis of these and of previously available far infrared data yields information on the interaction between the two torsions, and partial information on structural relaxation.
