The photophysics of alkali naphtholates: lifetimes of contact and solvent-separated ion pairs present simultaneously in weakly polar solvents
The solvent effect on the emission and absorption properties of the β-naphtholate anion was studied and the lifetimes measured. In all solvents only a single peak is observed in the spectra. In spite of the lack of resolved spectral bands, the combination of shifts and lifetimes made it possible to...

Summary: | The solvent effect on the emission and absorption properties of the β-naphtholate anion was studied and the lifetimes measured. In all solvents only a single peak is observed in the spectra. In spite of the lack of resolved spectral bands, the combination of shifts and lifetimes made it possible to demonstrate the simultaneous presence of contact and solvent-separated ion pairs in weakly polar solvents like tetrahydrofuran. |
