Summary:It has been shown that a diode-laser spectrum of bismuth monohydride ( 1Σ) recently reported by Bopegedera, Brazier and Bernath contained some incorrect assignments. The spectra of both BiH and BiD have been remeasured with a nominal accuracy of ±0.001 cm −1; the data sets have been extended to higher rotational and vibrational quantum numbers, and accurate Dunham parameters determined. A simultaneous fit of the data sets of BiH and BiD was carried out to obtain a set of mass-independent parameters and mass-scaling coefficients.
