Summary: | Platinum oligomer clusters were prepared by radiolysis in aqueous solution containing polyacrylic acid, then deposited on a freshly cleaved HOPG surface and imaged by STM. Well-resolved features of these clusters were obtained. The smallest aggregates were found to contain mainly dimers up to trimers and tetramers, even though the presence of monomers could not be excluded. The stabilizing polymer was not detected as interfering primarily in the adsorbate densities. |
