Description
Summary:A device is described which measures the energy losses in superconducting magnets. It is excited by alternating current, and is based on the use of a Hall probe as a wattmeter. The signal from the probe, proportional to the power of the losses, integrated over a cycle of current change, corresponds to the losses in the magnet. A feature of the device consists in the use of a special measuring magnet and a system for balancing the reactive voltage, so that the losses can be measured in high-power superconducting magnets.
