Summary: | Electrosynthesis of dibasic saturated normal-structure acids has been systematically studied, which made it possible to elaborate and implement in the U.S.S.R. an industrial production of sebacic acid, the most important one of dicarboxylic acids, and also to carry out an experimental—industrial test of the synthesis of suberic and azelaic acids.
The influence of different parameters (the nature of anode, current density, the nature of dicarboxylic acid, the concentration of salt and acid monoester, solvent nature, temperature, pH,
etc) upon the kinetics of electrodic processes and on the yield and current efficiency of the electrosynthesis products has been studied. Glass—carbon and platinum—titanium oxide anodes have been shown to be the most promising ones, besides platinum. Platinum corrosion under electrosynthesis has been investigated in detail. |
