Summary:The equations for free convection in gas are analyzed and the computational algorithm, efficient when the condition {itμgh/RT ⪡1} is met at an arbitrary (not small) temperature drop, is proposed. Free convection arising in a steady nonuniform heating of walls is calculated for axisymmetric objects of various shapes. The calculated results demonstrate the establishment of steady and periodic gas flows.
