On the measurement of specific energy of coals by means of 12C determination using a correlation method
In order to measure the gross specific energy of coal we propose to measure the 12C content using (n, n′ γ) reaction in which 4.43 MeV γ-rays are emitted. We use the correlation technique which can be used in a high background environment. By measuring the covariance function φ we can obtain a measu...

Summary: | In order to measure the gross specific energy of coal we propose to measure the
12C content using (n, n′ γ) reaction in which 4.43 MeV γ-rays are emitted. We use the correlation technique which can be used in a high background environment. By measuring the covariance function φ we can obtain a measure of the number of excited
12C nuclei i.e. a value of carbon concentration. The dependence of φ on carbon content is presented. The relative standard deviations vary from 1.3 to 4.4% for different points. |
