Summary: | The feasibility of using resonance ionization as a source for mass spectroscopy is reported and it is demonstrated that this ion source is compatible with laser vaporization techniques for analysing solid samples. A time-of-flight spectrometer designed to use both a laser vaporization microprobe and the resonance ionization source is briefly described. Applications of the system to isotopic analysis are discussed. |
