Pharmacon-induced airway obstruction in healthy subjects: Dose dependent changes of inspired aerosol boluses

Summary: | Dispersion of a bolus of monodisperse aerosol has been investigated before and after bronchoconstriction by stepwise increased doses of the parasympathomimeticum carbachol. Deposition, half-width and modeshift of aerosol pulses have been determined in dependency of lung depth and dose of carbachol — respectively the amount of bronchoconstriction. Dose-response curves are shown for the different parameters of the aerosol behaviour in comparison to the airway resistance (sRaw) by bodyplethysmography. Furthermore correlation plots between means of the three aerosol parameters and the sRaw are demonstrated. |
