Summary: | Butanediol succinate is shown to be a useful column for the gas—liquid chromatographic separation of methylated alditol acetates. These compounds are readily identified by mass spectrometry even when the two instruments are physically separate. Substances not separated by gas—liquid chromatography may be collected from the effluent resolved by thin-layer chromatography, and the components identified by gas chromatography—mass spectrometry. |
