Description
Summary:Crown ether compounds have a unique structure owing to the cavity structure and the strong electronegative effect of heteroatoms. In recent years, some groups have succeeded in applying these ligands in gas chromatography. Typically, crown ethers have been coated on supports, polymerized and covalently bonded to a polysiloxane backbone. The last technique resulted in a series of significant GC stationary phases which show excellent thermostability and provide unique separations of polar compounds and aromatic hydrocarbons, especially positional isomers. Work about the application of crown ethers as GC stationary phases is reviewed.
