The hydrodynamic force resisting the approach of a sphere to a plane wall in slip flow

Summary: | The solution of the creeping equations of motion in bispherical coordinates with slip boundary conditions is used to calculate the hydrodynamic force resisting the approach of a sphere toward a wall. The computed results indicate that the force increases as the gap is reduced, but the increase becomes significantly less pronounced as the Knudsen number is increased. |
