The hydrodynamic force resisting the approach of a sphere to a plane wall in slip flow

The solution of the creeping equations of motion in bispherical coordinates with slip boundary conditions is used to calculate the hydrodynamic force resisting the approach of a sphere toward a wall. Description
Summary:The solution of the creeping equations of motion in bispherical coordinates with slip boundary conditions is used to calculate the hydrodynamic force resisting the approach of a sphere toward a wall. The computed results indicate that the force increases as the gap is reduced, but the increase becomes significantly less pronounced as the Knudsen number is increased.
