Flux growth of crystals of RKMo2O8, R2MoO6 and R6MoO12 in the systems R2O3- K2O- MoO3

The growth of crystals of RKMo 2 O 8, R 2 MoO 6 and R 6 MoO 12 ( R 3+ = rare-earth ion) from R 2 O 3- K 2 O- MoO 3 solutions is described. It is shown that the family RKMo 2 O 8 may be classified into five groups on the basis of X-ray powder patterns: (1) R = Lu to Tb, (2) Gd, (3) Sm and Eu, (4) Nd,...

Description
Summary:The growth of crystals of RKMo 2 O 8, R 2 MoO 6 and R 6 MoO 12 ( R 3+ = rare-earth ion) from R 2 O 3- K 2 O- MoO 3 solutions is described. It is shown that the family RKMo 2 O 8 may be classified into five groups on the basis of X-ray powder patterns: (1) R = Lu to Tb, (2) Gd, (3) Sm and Eu, (4) Nd, (5) Pr to La. X-ray diffractometer data for the five groups and the unit cell dimensions of some of the compounds are given. The crystal growth of R 6 MoO 12 has not previously been reported.
