Electrochemical polymerization of β-substituted and β,β'-disubstituted selenophenes
The electrochemical oxidation of selenophenes substituted in β- or β,β' -positions by electron-donating groups leads to the formation of conducting polymers. These polymers are formed either by repetitive cyclic voltammetry or by the potential step experiments. The chronoamperometric results sh...

Summary: | The electrochemical oxidation of selenophenes substituted in β- or β,β' -positions by electron-donating groups leads to the formation of conducting polymers. These polymers are formed either by repetitive cyclic voltammetry or by the potential step experiments.
The chronoamperometric results show that, for certain derivatives, the film formation process resembles the process observed in the electrodeposition of metals: a first step of nucleation is followed by three-dimensional growth which can be either progressive or instantaneous. These phenomena are governed by the electronic and steric effects of the substituents. |
