Summary: | Steady state, galvanostatic and potentiostatic polarisation studies have been used to examine the role of sulphide additives on the performance of porous, alkaline iron electrodes. From a phenomenological analysis of the linear polarisation data of iron electrodes at various states-of-charge values, a criterion to predict the relative values of the energy transfer coefficients is envisaged. The analysis of the data, in the light of depassivation and grain-refinement models, suggests that the incorporation of sulphide enhances the bulk electrode conductivity. |
