Fluorescence quenching of phenanthrene and chrysene by potassium iodide in methanol-ethanol solutions
The fluorescence decay functions and the fluorescence quantum yields of phenanthrene-h 10, -d 10, chrysene-h 12 and -d 12 in the presence of Kl in methanol-ethanol solutions were measured at 77 K and 293 K. The fluorescence decay functions measured at 77 K were analyzed taking into account the dista...

12 in the presence of Kl in methanol-ethanol solutions were measured at 77 K and 293 K. The fluorescence decay functions measured at 77 K were analyzed taking into account the distance dependence of the intersystem crossing and radiative fluorescence rate constants. The kinetic effects and spectral evidence suggest that for the external heavy-atom effect in the system investigated here both the electron transfer processes and the exciplex formation between the aromatic molecule and perturber are important. |
