Summary:Optical absorption spectra and stimulation spectra of BaFBr and BaFBr:Eu single crystals measured with polarized light show the position of the absorption bands at 298K, F(Br-): λ E = 510nm, λ E⊥ c ≮ = 580nm; F(F-): λ E c ≮ = 535–540nm, λ E⊥≮ = 490nm . In addition, thermoluminescence and stimulation spectra of x-irradiated BaFBr are studied by thermal cleaning technique. The trap depth and frequency factor of 365K are calculated employing various methods. The two peaks at 365K and 414K are associated with F(F-) centers respectively.
