Summary: | The electron resonance spectra of the radicals generated by reducing with potassium
t-butoxide in DMSO imidazo-
ortho- and
para-benzoquinones and the corresponding 1-methyl and 2-methyl derivatives are reported. From the relative values of the hyperfine splitting constants, evidence has been obtained that the radicals from N-unsubstituted quinones possess a dianionic structure which results from the sum of two processes: reduction of the parent molecule to the monoanionic form and ionization of the iminic proton. |
