The microwave spectrum of phosphabutadiyne, HCCCP

The microwave spectrum of the new linear molecule phosphabutadiyne, HCCCP, was detected when 1-chlorobut-2-yne, ClCH 2CCH, and phosphorus trichloride PCl 3, were copyrolyzed at 1100°C in a gas-phase flow system. Between 26.5 and 40 GHz, the J = 4, 5, and 6 transitions of HC 3P and the J = 5, 6,...

Description
Summary:The microwave spectrum of the new linear molecule phosphabutadiyne, HCCCP, was detected when 1-chlorobut-2-yne, ClCH 2CCH, and phosphorus trichloride PCl 3, were copyrolyzed at 1100°C in a gas-phase flow system. Between 26.5 and 40 GHz, the J = 4, 5, and 6 transitions of HC 3P and the J = 5, 6, and 7 transitions of DC 3P were analyzed to yield B 0 = 2656.3944(6) and 2488.9027(17) MHz, respectively. These constants are consistent with the bond lengths r (HC) = 1.058 A ̊ , r (CC) = 1.205 A ̊ as in HC 3N; r (CP) = 1.544 A ̊ as in CH 3CP; and r (CC) = 1.382 A ̊ . The dipole moment was derived from the v 7 = 1 transitions of HC 3P as μ = 0.745(5) D.
