Heterodyne frequency measurements of the 1-0 band of HF at 2.7 μm

Summary: | Absolute frequencies of five rotational-vibrational transitions of the
v = 1 ← 0 band of hydrogen fluoride around 3800 cm
−1 were measured with sub-Doppler resolution. A beat frequency was measured between two Lamb-dip stabilized CO lasers and a tunable color center laser whose frequency was locked to the molecular transition by means of Doppler-free polarization saturation spectroscopy. The transition frequencies have been determined with an absolute accuracy of ±1 MHz. This is an improvement of almost one order of magnitude to earlier Fourier-transform measurements by Guelachvili (
Opt. Commun
19, 150–154 (1976)) which are systematically higher by about 15 MHz. |
