Electronic structure and properties of the peptide group

The electronic structure and properties of the peptide, ether and cyanamide groups are discussed. It is shown that the most remarkable feature of the peptide group is caused by the interaction of the nitrogen lone-pair with the π-electrons of the CO group and of the oxygen lone pair. The electronic...

Description
Summary:The electronic structure and properties of the peptide, ether and cyanamide groups are discussed. It is shown that the most remarkable feature of the peptide group is caused by the interaction of the nitrogen lone-pair with the π-electrons of the CO group and of the oxygen lone pair. The electronic structure of the ether and cyanamide groups can be described in a similar way.
