The molecular structure of bis(acetylacetonato)copper(II) in the gas phase as determined from electron diffraction data

The molecular structure of bis(acetylacetonato)copper has been determined by gas-phase electron diffraction. The experimental data are consistent with a monomeric square-planar structure with ∠ OCuO = 92.3 ± 0.9°. The structural parameters are as follows: r g ( CuO) = 1.914 ± 0.002, r g ( CO) = 1....

Description
Summary:The molecular structure of bis(acetylacetonato)copper has been determined by gas-phase electron diffraction. The experimental data are consistent with a monomeric square-planar structure with ∠ OCuO = 92.3 ± 0.9°. The structural parameters are as follows: r g ( CuO) = 1.914 ± 0.002, r g ( CO) = 1.273 ± 0.002, r g ( CC ring ) = 1.402 ± 0.003, r g ( CC meth ) = 1.512 ± 0.004 A ̊ . The deviation of the metal atom from the ligand plane is estimated to be 0.41 ± 0.07 Å. The amplitudes of vibration have been calculated by a normal vibration treatment using a modified Urey-Bradley force field.
