Summary: | High pressure FT-IR study of tetramethylammonium nitrate was carried out upto 50 kbar using diamond anvil cell in the frequency region 4000-400cm−1. In the high pressure phase above 30 kbar both cation and anion bands show drastic changes in position, band width and intensity. Pressure induced phase transition is caused by the distortion of the cations and anions with increased disorder and symmetry variations. |
