Description
Summary:The Raman spectra of 38 samples of As x S y I z glasses of the whole glass-forming region of the AsSI system were studied. The obtained compositional dependences of the Raman spectra reveal a pseudo-molecular character of the vibrational properties of the As x S y I z glasses. The Raman spectra can be successfully explained using the structural model of a disordered network composed of AsS 3 pyramids interconnected via single (-S-) and partly double (-S-S-) sulfur bridges along the As 2S 3-AsI 3 join line and in the S-rich region, respectively. This structural matrix contains dissolved molecular species of AsI 3 characterized by the bands of 210, 90 and 70 cm −1 and in the S-rich region also the S 8 species characterized by the bands of 150 and 475 cm −1.
