Summary:New glass compositions have been investigated in substituting barium by alkali elements (Li, Na, K) in the basic glass BIGaZYbT. Characteristic temperatures T g, T x, T l, density and refractive indices have been determined. Incorporation of lithium or sodium increases the Hruby factor, and decreases the critical cooling rate, R c. Also the diminution of refractive index, n D, depends on the alkali metal.
