Summary: | Photoluminescence and sub-gap absorption spectroscopy are used to study glow discharge amorphous silicon carbon alloys. The samples were deposited from methane and silane, with or without hydrogen dilution of the gaseous mixture. The line-width of the emission is proportional to the Urbach energy. The emission dependence on temperature is used to estimate the localization length of trapped carriers. |
