Description
Summary:A general discussion is presented of the solution of rate equations containing non-linear cross-relaxation terms as well as linear spin-lattice terms. When linearization is valid, practical solutions may be obtained to any desired degree of accuracy by means of a matrix perturbation process without the necessity of making simplifying limiting assumptions about the spin-lattice times. When linearization is not valid, but spin-lattice relaxation is negligible, the non-linear solution can always be obtained exactly. If the same cross-relaxation process can occur in a number of mutually exclusive ways, it is shown that each channel must be treated separately, but only one cross-relaxation decay constant results.
