Summary: | This article first offers a brief survey of the transfer matrix method of analyzing the dynamic behavior of beam structures. This survey serves as an introduction to the application of the transfer matrix method to single rows of aircraft panels which are continuous over supporting stringers. The skin-stringer problem, important to the prediction of fatigue failures, is discussed for rather general conditions. The panel thickness, length and radii of curvature may vary from panel to panel, and the stringers may have different cross-sectional properties. |
