Description
Summary:The solutions are presented for six problems of the scattering of low frequency plane harmonic elastic P and S waves when they impinge on a movable or an immovable rigid spherical inclusion or a spherical cavity. In each problem, the scatterer is embedded in an infinite homogeneous isotropic elastic medium. Formulas are derived for the scalar wave functions, components of the displacement vectors, stress tensors, far field amplitudes, scattering cross-sections and dynamic stress intensity factors.
