Description
Summary:The recent interest in fluoropyrimidines as agents in cancer therapy and the lack of published data concerning their chromatographic properties prompted a study of these and related compounds by thin-layer chromatography. Good separations have been achieved on plates coated with silica gel GF. By using a two-dimensional technique, a solvent system was employed consisting of ethyl acetate:acetone:water in the ratio 70:40:10, followed by chromatography with a solvent containing ethyl acetate:methanol:conc. ammonium hydroxide, 75:25:1. A number of other solvent systems and the R ƒ values obtained with their use have been tabulated. These data should be helpful for the study of the chemical or metabolic reaction products of these and related fluoro compounds.
