4-(2-Pyridylazo) resorcinol as a sensitive reagent for vanadium, niobium, and tantalum
The formation of red colored chelates between vanadium, niobium and tantalum with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) has been reported. The λ max of the chelates are respectively 550 mμ (ph 5.0); 540 mμ (pH 6.0) and 500 mμ (pH 6.0). Adherence to Beer's law is observed over a wide range of metal c...

Summary: | The formation of red colored chelates between vanadium, niobium and tantalum with 4-(2-pyridylazo)resorcinol (PAR) has been reported. The λ
max of the chelates are respectively 550 mμ (ph 5.0); 540 mμ (pH 6.0) and 500 mμ (pH 6.0). Adherence to Beer's law is observed over a wide range of metal concentrations, the color intensities are also stable within a wide range of pH particularly in case of Nb-PAR chelate. The reagent is highly sensitive specially for vanadium. The effect of various conditions like pH, time, order of the addition of the reactants and interference due to various ions have been studied. |
