A colorimetric method for the microdetermination of silicon in the presence of excess phosphorus

King's method has been modified for the measurement of biological samples. The addition of tartaric acid permits the accurate measurement of silica even in the presence of large excess of phosphorus. This eliminates the need for separating phosphate prior to the silicon determination.
