Summary:Thirteen lines of the spectrum of Ta, observed by means of a 6.650 m vacuum spectrograph with a hollow cathode and a sliding spark as light sources are identified as belonging to the spectrum of four times ionized Ta. These lines are classified in a level scheme consisting of 10 levels with the 5d 2D 3 2 as ground level. The ionization potential was calculated to be 390400 (1000) cm -1 or 48.4 (0.1) V.
