Modification of the adhesion properties of synthetic fibres by radiation-grafting of fluoro-olefins
The characteristic features of the adhesion properties of fibres having been grafted with polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate and other polymers had been reported earlier [1, 2]. This report deals with the study of the influence of grafting hexafluoropropylene (C 3F 6) and trifluorochlorethylene (C 2F 3C...

Summary: | The characteristic features of the adhesion properties of fibres having been grafted with polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate and other polymers had been reported earlier [1, 2].
This report deals with the study of the influence of grafting hexafluoropropylene (C
3F
6) and trifluorochlorethylene (C
2F
3Cl) by polymerization on the adhesion properties of orientated polycaproamide (PC), polyethylene terephthalate (PET) and polypropylene (PP) fibres.
The polyfluoro-olefins have a particularly valuable complex of physical and chemical properties due to the high negative electrical charge of the fluorine atom and the large bond energy with the C-atom. They are non-miscible with the majority of polymers. |
