Summary:A polyarylate containing 1,2-diphenylcarborane chain units, which can form highly crystalline structures, has been prepared from 1,2-bis-(4-hydroxyphenyl)carborane and the acid chloride of 1,2-bis-(4-carboxyphenyl)carbonate. The parameters of the unit cell of the polymer have been determined and the degree of crystallinity of some samples has been calculated. Conditions for conversion to the amorphous state and for crystallization of the polymer have been found, and the properties of amorphous and crystalline samples have been studied. It was found that the amorphous polymer has high heat resistance.
