Description
Summary:IR spectroscopy has been used to investigate changes occuring in aromatic polycarbamides synthesized on the basis of diphenylmethanediisocyanate-4,4′. It has been shown that the maximum rate of decomposition of biurea groups, formed in the polycarbamides by a reaction between excess isocyanate groups and the carbamide group, occurs at 150°C. On the basis of the IR spectra and also from an investigation of the gaseous products from the thermal decomposition of the polycarbamides a mechanism is proposed for their decomposition.
