Summary: | A study was made of the possibility of using dichroic ratios of many bands in IR spectra of partially oriented amorphous and crystalline polymers to calculate the angles between moments of vibratory transitions and the molecular axis. Using IR spectra of repeatedly disturbed full internal reflection some angles were calculated for oriented fibres for vibrations of atomic groups corresponding to the crystalline part and the volume of the polymer. By using “crystalline” bands satisfactory agreement was established between spectroscopically determined results and results obtained by X-ray structural studies. |
