Description
Summary:A description is given of a new approach to calibration for the IR analysis of ethylene-propylene-but-1-ene ternary copolymers using synthetic mixtures of ethylene-propylene and propylene-but-1-ene two component copolymers synthesized under the same conditions. It is shown that the method proposed is suitable for the analysis of various ternary statistical copolymers. It is established that the analytical accuracy is higher in this case than on using homopolymer mixtures for calibration. A comparison of IR spectroscopic results concerning the composition of ternary copolymers with calculated concentrations of functional groups in the copolymer shows satisfactory agreement.
