The thermodynamic properties of silicon and germanium diphenyldihydride polyaddition products with the bis-ethinyl derivatives of the same metals

An adiabatic vacuum calorimeter was used to measure the heat absorption capacity ( C p° ) of the polyvinylenediphenylsilyl- (PVS) and polyvinylenediphenylgermyl-αω-dihydribes, and of their copolymer (PVSG) composed of regularly alternating vinylenediphenylsilyl and vinylenediphenylgermyl chain units...

Description
Summary:An adiabatic vacuum calorimeter was used to measure the heat absorption capacity ( C p° ) of the polyvinylenediphenylsilyl- (PVS) and polyvinylenediphenylgermyl-αω-dihydribes, and of their copolymer (PVSG) composed of regularly alternating vinylenediphenylsilyl and vinylenediphenylgermyl chain units in the 7–330°K range with a 0·2% determination accuracy. The glass transition range has been detected and the glass temperatures ( T g ) have been determined. The H T °- H 0°; S T °- S o °, and G T °- G 0° functions were cakculated from the obtained results for the 0–300°K range and the configurational entropy S conf° has been evaluated. The likely reasons for the thermodynamic property differences between the investigated polymers have been assessed.
