Thermal degradation of pressure moulded aromatic polyamides
The thermal and thermal-oxidative degradation of pressure moulded specimens of an aromatic, cardic polyamide based on terephthalic acid and anilineflourene, and of blends of the aromatic polyamide with a polyamide containing carborane groups, have been investigated. Summary: | The thermal and thermal-oxidative degradation of pressure moulded specimens of an aromatic, cardic polyamide based on terephthalic acid and anilineflourene, and of blends of the aromatic polyamide with a polyamide containing carborane groups, have been investigated. It was found that pressure moulding increases the resistance to thermal oxidation but decreases the thermal stability of the aromatic polyamide. It is shown that the
m-carborane polyamide is an efficient thermal stabilizer of the aromatic polyamide during processing of the latter, thus providing greater resistance of the resulting articles to thermal and thermal-oxidative degradation. |
