Summary: | IR spectroscopy (multi-attenuated total internal reflexion), X-ray structural analysis and thermal analysis have been used to study the features of structuration during fibre drawing from polyethylene terephthalate (PETP) and a copoly-ester containing 1,1-diacetyl ferrocene chain units. The introduction of such co-monomer unit into the PETP has been found to produce a more oriented structure. It also accelerated the fibre crystallization and the thermal drawing process. The filaments of the modified PETP showed reduced shrinkage when compared with other copoly-ester filaments. |
