Summary: | X-ray diffraction was used to investigate linear PE samples of different molecular weights and low density PE. A study was made of the effect of molecular weight and chain defects on average X-ray density, the proportion and temperature behaviour of the paracrystalline component. A detailed study was made of the function of disorientation of paracrystalline and crystalline components in relation to molecular weight and temperature. It was shown that molecular weight and chain defects have a marked effect on the structure of partially crystalline PE; most significant changes were observed in the intermediate component. |
